Can I Have a Kitchen Island?

This is one of the most popular questions we get asked and the answer is yes, provided you have enough space!

At Staffordshire Kitchens and Granite (SKG) we can design and produce islands to almost any size and with different degrees of functionality. For example, some islands simply provide extra worktop and cabinet storage whilst others might feature integrated appliances, sinks, seating areas and breakfast bars

Ideally, you need a one metre space around an island to allow cabinet doors to open and people to comfortably pass by.

If you like the idea of an island, but realistically, your kitchen space isn’t big enough, you might want to consider a ‘peninsula.’

Peninsulas, often wrongly referred to as islands, is -as the name suggests, a run of cabinetry and worktop at a right angle to a run of base cabinetry or a wall. Sometimes a peninsula only needs to be 600 or so millimetres to provide a useful breakfast eating arrangement and extra worktop space. Anything is possible with SKG
