What is a Slab Door Kitchen?
The term ‘slab door’ perhaps doesn’t conjure up the nicest of images. However, the fact is that such a door style has been used for some of the sleekest and most exciting kitchen designs that we see today.
Just as the name suggests, it is simply a flat piece of square edged material, joined to a cabinet with the use of hinges, to create a ‘slab door,’ but the magic isn’t in the door design itself; that comes with the overall look. A run of flat doors provides a fabulous ‘blank’ canvas! Imagine a large bold and visually arresting wood grain finish running all the way across a run of cabinets OR perhaps a dark dramatic, uninterrupted mat grey finish, toped with a contrasting worktop to create that sleek, clean linear look.
At Staffordshire Kitchens and Granite (SKG) we often work with customers to create such bold kitchen statements which can be perfect for a variety of settings such as, for example, a barn conversion where the clean, smooth lines provide a wonderful contrast to the building’s centuries old, rustic structure.
